Stephen Hendricks Overall Show Design, Drill Composition
Stephen Hendricks is a full time marching band/winter guard show designer and composer living in Tallahassee, FL. A graduate student at Florida State University’s prominent College of Music, Hendricks has already designed for and taught some of the top drum corps and high school marching ensembles in the world.
After graduating from the University of Georgia, Mr. Stephen Hendricks served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Richmond Hill High School in Richmond Hill, Georgia . Under his leadership, his bands received consistently high honors at marching competitions, including winning the visual captions at every contest, and never finishing lower than 2nd in any caption while associated with the program. From 2005-2008, he served on the faculty of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle corps.
Mr. Hendricks is an equal partner of Countermotion Inc, a renowned marching band show design company based out of Statesboro, GA. Since the creation of his company, he has designed literally 100s of shows for many successful band programs in the Southeast, including several bands that place regularly in Bands of America. He also serves many programs as a marching band consultant and is a frequent adjudicator to marching band contests.His professional affiliations include the National Band Association, the National Association for Music Education, Georgia Music Educators Association and the Florida Bandmasters Association.
Michael Thomas Overall Show Design, Drill Composition Michael Thomas is currently a full time marching band show designer and arranger.Born in southern Florida in October of 1977 to his parents Greg and Karla Thomas, he grew up near Rockford, Illinois and was exposed to marching pageantry throughout his childhood.
Mr. Thomas started his career in Drum and Bugle Corps at the early age of thirteen and spent four years marching with the Division 2 Phantom Regiment Cadets. Shortly after moving to Georgia he joined the Army National Guard Band in Atlanta, GA. The military band allowed him to attend Georgia Southern University in the fall of 1995 in pursuit of his Mechanical Engineering Degree. He marched with the Division I Champions, The Cadets of Bergen County in 1998. After graduating in fall of 2000, Mr. Thomas spent the next eight years working at Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, GA.
In 2001, he joined the Air Force National Guard Band of the South in Marietta, GA. During his time in the Air Force, he has been deployed to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His deployment took him to seven different countries playing music for hundreds of troops at several different bases. During the summer of 2002, Mr. Thomas played trumpet with BLAST II, Shockwave, a product of the Emmy Award winning production, BLAST! He also has spent time designing and teaching the marching band program part time at Richmond Hill High School where they have won several competitions and performed at Bands of America in Atlanta, GA. In 2006 Mr. Thomas began a partnership with Stephen Hendricks which ultimately has led to the creation of CounterMotion, Inc, a complete show design based company.
